Schizachyrium scoparium Prairie Blues
Prairie Blues little bluestem is an outstanding ecological ornamental. This native prairie grass does well in poor soils with low water requirements. An excellent choice for applications that require native plantings or ecological function, where aesthetics are also a priority. In the growing season color is a pale blue-green with pinkish red accents. Fall color is pale amber/green with purple tones. Downy white seeds develop on 3′ tall stems in late summer.
Grow in well-drained soil. Keep only slightly moist. Requires little to no fertilizer in the landscape.
