Phormium tenax Mat's Merlot
Evergreen perennial with grass-like leaves. Dark black-maroon leaves with smoky black-green undersides, that arch gracefully at the tips. Selected by Matsuda Nursery in Sacramento, California.
Should be protected if temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Best color and condition is achieved in full sun with regular irrigation. 4-6′ x 4-6′.
